Mike Beauvais and Dr. Thaddeus Romansky reviewed class discussions about the opening address of Pope St. John XXIII to the Second Vatican Council and the first three chapters of Dei Verbum, the Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation. Divine revelation is much more than the Bible. In fact, it is God who revealed Himself through his creation, salvation history, foremost through his son Jesus Christ (the Word of God), and then the preaching and teaching of His Church, and finally Scripture. There is a unity of God's words and deeds (DV 2) fulfilled most clearly in Our Lord. And Scripture provides a mysterious union between divine inspiration and human authorship.
